Nimble Hill Vineyards
Nimble Hill Vineyard
It is our philosophy that fine wines begin in the vineyard. The Vineyard at Nimble Hill is the on-site vineyard that we will be using to source some of the grapes for our wines. This vineyard is located on a portion of the 165 acre parcel located at the Toczko’s home just outside of Mehoopany.
This land had historically been both an orchard and a dairy farm. The vineyard site is located on a knoll that faces west and southwest and is gently sloping. The slope allows for good air drainage of cold air and good air circulation among the vines. The soil in this part of the farm drains well which will keep the grape vines healthy and happy.
The varieties currently planted at Nimble Hill are, Edelweiss, St. Croix, Landot Noir, and Riesling. There are plans to plant additional acreage of Riesling and other varieties, such as Vidal and Lemberger.
Sugar Hollow Vineyard
Sugar Hollow Vineyard is operated by Paul Milnes, our preferred grape grower. The vineyard site at Sugar Hollow is 7.5 acres located in an old peach orchard and has some of the best soils in the area for grape growing. The soils are primarily a gravelly and sandy loam.
The grape varieties planted at Sugar Hollow are all vitis vinifera and consist of, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Lemberger. There may be other varieties added in the future.
Milnes Vineyard
This vineyard is owned by Paul Milnes and is located at his home in Tunkhannock. The vineyard is currently providing the winery with Vidal, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Riesling. There is an additional acre of Vidal being added here. The total acreage here is about 1.5 acres.
